This week’s final approval for production marks the launch of the fully automatic production of the next generation of data storage media, known as 4K discs. The engineers and experienced technicians in East Westphalia previously spent months optimizing the manufacturing process for the microstructures and equipping the production machinery to cope with significantly increased volumes of data. Sonopress has taken its place as one of the few certified companies worldwide for the Ultra HD Blu-ray with 66-gigabyte memory since February of this year. Sonopress has reached yet another milestone in the seminal 4K segment with its successful triple-layer disc process, which can hold up to 100 gigabytes of data. “We are so proud to be among the world’s first providers to master this new technology,” says Sonopress CEO Sven Deutschmann. Deutschmann continues, “The first orders for this 100 GB disc are already in production.”
